The Word for World is Forest

We are making this freely available to anyone who wants to get more familiar with Ursula’s work, or to anyone who just needs another reason to hate the Ewoks.

Ursula was once asked what she wanted to see happen with her books after she died.

“I want them available, I want cheap paper editions of them, I want them to be continuously downloaded in forty languages, I want them to be read, I want them to be argued about, I want people to cry over them, I want unreadable dissertations written about them, I want people to get angry with them, I want people to love them.”

In accordance with her wishes, we are making this freely available to anyone who wants to get more familiar with Ursula’s work, or to anyone who just needs another reason to hate the Ewoks.

Because of the length of this work, we have broken it down into two parts.

A printable PDF of Part 1 can be found here.

A printable PDF of Part 2 can be found here.

Recommended further reading by Ursula K Le Guin: The Dispossessed, The Left Hand of Darkness, The Lathe of Heaven, as well as the Earthsea Cycle and a number of her short stories, but specifically “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas”.

We are a collective of anarchists and prison abolitionists who produce and reproduce radical literature for prisoners. We table literature, stickers and other rad shit at shows around Milwaukee to support this project.
